Hi friends,
Well, we’ve had another week of glorious weather, and we’ve finally found some doggy ice cream (thank you Amazon Fresh)! Coco is thrilled. We’re counting down to a trip to Rome in a couple of weeks and planning some trips in late September/early October to eek out summer for as long as we can. If you have any recommendations please do share them!
This week’s five things…
I thoroughly enjoyed Call her Alex on Disney+, as part of the Daddy Gang, it was great to get some BTS and learn more about Alex herself, and the challenges she faced that brought Call her Daddy to the world. She’s an absolute power house, and a real inspiration. I’m also wondering if the birthday fairies (who read this) might get me this great sweatshirt so I can rep the gang.
Mesh flats are all the rage right now (who am I - 78?!), anyways, I’m trying to work out if these are worth the price tag… they are very pretty though…
Anthony Bourdain is undeniably the father of food writing and travel, and I, like many others, still look at his recommendations and try them if I can. My brother and I went to a tiny hole in the wall in Vietnam, eating noodles we only found because of him. Outlaws & Highways writes so beautifully about him here, and Tom Vitale has written In the weeds about his 16 year experience working alongside him.
I love a dirty martini, almost as much as I love a spicy margarita (and I have the tee to prove it). I am actually quite sad that I’ve only had one of the martinis on this excellent list of London’s best martinis - the tiny one sip at Tayer Elementary. I’m deeply intrigued to try the martini for two at 45 Jermyn St - maybe I’ll try that as a birthday present to myself with a friend for one of those marvellous evenings full of chat and promise.
June has been *so* hot, and our freezer has these ice creams on rotation, all of which, are wonderfully dairy free. These mini twisters are also low in calorie if that’s your vibe too, entirely plant based and have two different flavours. Whilst, these ice cream balls (think mochi but better - yes, I’m biased) have two dairy free flavours - mint choc chip (hallelujah) and chocolate.
Let me know if you try the ice creams!
